Best social media scheduling APIs & MCP servers
Only a handful of social media schedulers offer real programmatic access. As of July 2026, three ship an MCP server for AI agents — post bridge, Postiz, and Buffer — and four offer a usable API. Hootsuite gates its API behind enterprise sales, and Later has none.
We build post bridge, but every fact below was verified against each tool's official pricing and docs — and we say plainly when a competitor is the better pick.
| Tool | API | MCP / AI agents | Pricing |
|---|---|---|---|
| REST API — add-on, any plan | Native MCP server | $29–$99/mo flat · unlimited posts on every plan | |
| REST API — all plans | Official MCP server | $29–$99/mo flat · open-source self-host is free | |
| GraphQL API — beta, all plans | MCP server — public beta | Free plan · paid from $6/channel/mo | |
| API — Business tier only | No MCP server | From $5/mo + $4 per extra account | |
| API — enterprise sales only | No MCP server | From $99/mo per user | |
| No public API | No MCP server | From $18.75/mo (annual) |
1. post bridge
Best for AI-agent posting and flat-priced cross-posting to 10 platforms
Built API-first by indie founder Jack Friks: one REST call (or one MCP tool call from Claude/ChatGPT) posts to any combination of 10 platforms, with per-platform overrides. Also ships a CLI (npx postbridge-cli). Human support from the founder.
2. Postiz
Best for open-source and self-hosted automation
The only open-source option here (AGPL) — self-host it for free on your own infra. API and MCP on every cloud plan, plus Reddit/Discord/Mastodon support. The closest tool in spirit to post bridge.
3. Buffer
Best for low channel counts and the best free tier
The most developer-friendly incumbent: API access on every plan including free (rate-limited by tier), and an MCP server in public beta. Per-channel pricing gets expensive as accounts grow.
4. Publer
Best for budget power-scheduling (bulk CSV, recycling) on small rosters
Great value and the broadest platform list (13+ incl. Telegram, Mastodon, WordPress), but API access requires the Business tier and there's no AI-agent/MCP integration yet.
5. Hootsuite
Best for enterprise teams already on Hootsuite
A capable API exists, but there's no self-serve access — production credentials go through their sales process on enterprise contracts.
6. Later
Best for visual Instagram planning (not automation)
Excellent Instagram-first planner, but offers no developer or AI-agent access at any tier.

Frequently asked questions
Which social media schedulers have a real API?
As of July 2026: post bridge (REST, add-on), Postiz (REST, all plans), Buffer (GraphQL, beta, all plans), and Publer (Business tier). Hootsuite's API requires an enterprise sales contract, and Later has no public API.
Which social media schedulers have an MCP server for AI agents?
Three: post bridge, Postiz, and Buffer (public beta). An MCP server lets AI agents like Claude and ChatGPT create, schedule, and manage posts directly through the Model Context Protocol.
What's the cheapest way to post to social media via API?
Buffer's free plan includes beta API access for up to 3 channels. For unlimited posts across many accounts, post bridge ($29/mo for 15 accounts plus the API add-on) or self-hosted Postiz (free if you run your own infrastructure) are the strongest value.
Can an AI agent post to TikTok and Instagram automatically?
Yes — connect your accounts to a scheduler with an MCP server (post bridge, Postiz, or Buffer), add the MCP server to Claude, ChatGPT, or your agent framework, and the agent can upload media and schedule posts to TikTok, Instagram, and the rest of your platforms.

Here's what they are saying.
PostBridge is the tool I use to schedule social for every brand I manage. Multiple platforms, multiple accounts, one place. It's affordable. Not "affordable for what it is" - actually affordable. Had a build issue once, working through the API. Messaged support. Fixed instantly. Nothing's broken since. It also teaches you the strategy, not just the scheduling. If you're managing more than one account, use this tool. Thanks for building it, Jack.
I tried several services to handle my social accounts for years. Some were too expensive like Hootsuite, Buffer and Agorapulse, others were too limited... Finally, I subscribed to Post Bridge and I can say I found a gem. No bugs, everything goes out exactly on time, for a fair price. I'm done shopping around. They've got a customer for life.
