What you can skip

  • A Meta developer app
  • The instagram_content_publish permission
  • Business verification with Meta
  • An app review that takes weeks
  • Access tokens you have to refresh yourself

post bridge already holds the approved Meta app and the publishing permissions, so your agent talks to us instead of talking to Meta.

What you actually need

  • An Instagram Business or Creator profileFree to switch, takes a minute
  • A post bridge accountOne OAuth click to connect Instagram
  • The skill installed in OpenClawOne command, shown below

The Business or Creator profile is Instagram's rule, not ours. Personal accounts cannot publish through any tool.

Setup in 4 steps

  1. 1

    Switch to Business or Creator

In the Instagram app: Settings, then Account type and tools, then Switch to professional account. Skip this if you are already on a professional profile.

  2. 2

    Connect Instagram to post bridge

Create an account, open Connections, pick Instagram and authorise. You can log in with Instagram directly, which also unlocks analytics, or connect through the Facebook page that manages the account. Either works for posting.

  3. 3

    Install the skill in OpenClaw

Run the command below, then paste your post bridge API key into your OpenClaw workspace. Full walkthrough on the OpenClaw setup page.

    openclaw skill add jackfriks/post-bridge-social-manager
  4. 4

    Tell your agent to post

That is the whole setup. Instructions that work well are listed just below.

What to say to your agent

Once the skill is installed, plain English is the interface.

"Post this video to Instagram as a reel, caption it from the notes in my last message."
"Put these 5 photos up as an Instagram carousel tomorrow at 6pm."
"Share the reel to my story as well once it is live."
"Which of my last 10 Instagram posts got the most views?"

What your agent can do on Instagram

Reels

Upload a video and your agent publishes it as a reel, with the cover frame you choose.

Carousels

Up to 10 images or videos in one post, ordered however you tell the agent.

Stories

Single image or video stories, published immediately or scheduled for later.

Scheduling

Publish now, schedule for a time, or drop into your queue so posts get spread out.

People tagging

Tag accounts in a photo by username and post bridge places the tags for you.

Analytics back

Ask your agent how a post did and it can pull views, likes and comments.

Worth knowing: Instagram requires media on every post, so a text-only caption will not publish. Carousels cap at 10 items and stories take a single image or video.

Frequently asked questions

Can OpenClaw post to Instagram?

Yes. OpenClaw cannot reach Instagram on its own, but with the post bridge skill installed it can publish reels, single images, carousels and stories to any Instagram account you have connected. Your agent calls post bridge, and post bridge talks to Instagram.

Do I need Instagram API access or a Meta developer app?

No. That is the part most people get stuck on. Instagram's Graph API requires a Meta developer app, a business verification, permission scopes and an app review that can take weeks. post bridge has already done that work, so you connect your account with one OAuth click and your agent uses our API instead of Meta's.

Does my Instagram account need to be a Business or Creator account?

Yes, and this is Instagram's rule rather than ours. Instagram only allows API publishing from Business or Creator profiles. Switching is free and takes about a minute in the Instagram app under Settings, Account type and tools. Personal accounts cannot publish through any tool, including ours.

Can OpenClaw post reels and stories, or just feed posts?

Reels, single images, carousels of up to 10 items, and stories are all supported. Instagram requires media on every post, so a text-only caption will not publish.

Can my agent post to several Instagram accounts?

Yes. Connect as many Instagram accounts as your plan allows and tell OpenClaw which one to use, or have it post to all of them in a single instruction.

Will Instagram flag my account for using an agent?

post bridge publishes through Instagram's official API and stays inside their rate limits, which is very different from the bot tools that scrape or automate the app. Accounts get flagged for unofficial automation, not for official API publishing.

Give your agent Instagram.

Connect once, then let OpenClaw handle the posting. Nine other platforms come with it.
