The short version
- Tightest budget: Buffer or Publer. Both have free plans and charge per account, so a small setup stays cheap.
- Best reporting: Metricool. Paid plans price by brand, not by account, though X costs extra.
- Evergreen content on repeat: SocialBee.
- Visual, Instagram-first brands: Later (but no X).
- Posting everywhere, including through AI agents: post bridge or Postiz.
- Teams that need listening, an inbox and approvals: Hootsuite. Most one-person shops don't need it.
Prices below were checked on each vendor's own pricing page in October 2026. They change often, so confirm before you buy.
How to read this list
As the one person doing marketing, you need the tool that gets posts onto your customers' platforms at a price that fits. Three things matter most:
- How it bills. Some tools charge per connected account, some per brand, some per bundle of profiles. The same five-channel setup can cost very different amounts.
- Which platforms it covers. Not every tool posts to X, Bluesky or Google Business Profile.
- Monthly vs annual. Many pricing pages show the annual rate by default. If you pay monthly, expect to pay 20 to 25% more.
If you're unsure whether you need a scheduler or a full management suite, read scheduler vs management platform first.
Create once, post everywhere
post bridge publishes and schedules your posts to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky and Google Business Profile from one dashboard.

1. post bridge
Best for: one person who already makes content and wants it on every platform from one place, or wants an AI agent to handle the posting.
post bridge publishes and schedules to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky and Google Business Profile. You write a post once, tweak the caption per platform if you want, and post now or schedule it on the content calendar. Bulk scheduling, first comments, YouTube thumbnails, titles and tags, and TikTok drafts are built in. Analytics cover TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook.
It also has a REST API and an MCP server, so you can ask Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude Code to schedule posts for you. The AI agents page shows how that works.
Price: Marketer is $39/month for 15 connected accounts. Operator is $99/month for 99 accounts, plus $1/month per extra account. Unlimited posts on both. 7-day free trial, no free plan. Details on the pricing page.
Key limit: it's a publishing tool built for one person, not a team. There's no social inbox, no listening and no approval workflow. If you need those, look at Hootsuite.
2. Buffer
Best for: the cleanest, simplest start on a tight budget.
Buffer has a free plan with up to 3 channels and 10 scheduled posts per channel. Essentials is $5/month per channel, Team is $10/month per channel (unlimited users). Both paid plans come with a 14-day trial, and Buffer says channels above 10 get a lower per-channel rate.
Key limit: you pay for every channel. Fine at three, less fine at twelve. Essentials is a single user. See our Buffer alternative comparison if you're weighing it.
3. Publer
Best for: a very small paid setup where every dollar counts.
Publer's free plan covers 3 social accounts with 10 scheduled posts per account, but you can't connect X on it. Professional starts at $5/month for one account, and you add accounts on top. Yearly billing saves 20%, and every 10th account is free. Professional has a 7-day trial.
Key limit: the price climbs with each account, and X needs a paid plan. More in our Publer alternative page.
4. Social Champ
Best for: someone who wants to pick between pay-as-you-go and a flat bundle.
Social Champ offers per-profile plans (Starter from $5/month per account, $4 on annual) and flat plans (Standard is $29/month for 6 accounts and 2 users, about $23 on annual). The free plan allows 3 accounts and 15 scheduled posts, and keeps metrics for 2 weeks.
Key limit: the free plan excludes X and Pinterest, and 15 posts doesn't go far.
5. Metricool
Best for: small businesses that care about what's working, not just getting posts out.
Metricool has a free forever plan: 1 brand, 20 scheduled posts a month, 30 days of analytics. LinkedIn and X aren't included on free. Paid Starter is from $25/month billed monthly or $20/month billed annually, priced by brand, so one business with several networks stays on one plan.
Key limit: X needs an add-on on every paid plan, listed at $10/month per connected account. If X is a main channel for you, add that to the math.
6. SocialBee
Best for: businesses whose posts stay relevant for months (tips, how-tos, services).
SocialBee sorts posts into content categories, and evergreen categories keep recycling their posts on a schedule. Bootstrap is $29/month monthly or $24/month annual for 5 profiles and 1 user. Accelerate is $49/month for 10 profiles. Every plan has a 14-day trial, and there's no free plan.
Key limit: recycling does little if your content is time-sensitive, and the entry plan caps you at 5 profiles.
7. Postiz
Best for: technical owners who want open source and are happy to run a server.
Postiz is open source. You can self-host it, or use the cloud: Standard is $29/month monthly ($23 annual) for 5 channels, Team is $39/month for 10. Every plan includes its API and an MCP server, and there's a 7-day trial. It supports a long list of networks, including Bluesky and Mastodon.
Key limit: if you self-host, you're the one fixing it when something breaks. Compare it in our Postiz alternatives roundup.
8. Later
Best for: Instagram-first, visual brands that plan grids and Reels.
Later Starter is $18.75/month billed yearly for one social set, which is one profile on each supported platform: Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Threads, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Snapchat. Monthly billing costs more. There's a 14-day trial.
Key limit: Later ended X support in August 2025, and Bluesky and Google Business Profile aren't on its platform list. If X or local search matters to you, this one's out. See our Later alternative page.
9. Hootsuite
Best for: a business with an actual social team that needs listening, a shared inbox and approvals.
Hootsuite paid plans start at $99 per user per month on Standard, billed annually, with 10 social accounts. Monthly billing is available at a higher rate. There's a 14-day trial and no free plan.
Key limit: for one person who mostly needs scheduling, you're paying for team features you won't use. Our Hootsuite alternative page covers the tradeoffs.
How to pick when you're the whole marketing team
- List your platforms first. Need X? Rule out Later, and skip the free plans of Publer, Social Champ and Metricool. Need Google Business Profile for a local shop? Check it's on the list before anything else.
- Count accounts, then do the math. Two or three accounts: Buffer or Publer free, or a cheap per-account plan. Ten or more: compare per-account totals against bundle plans.
- Decide if reporting matters. If you'll actually read analytics every week, Metricool earns its spot.
- Decide how you want to post. Doing it yourself in a calendar works in any of these. If you'd rather tell an AI agent "schedule this week's posts," look at post bridge or Postiz.
- Trial two tools for a real week. Push your actual content through both.

Common questions
Which tool has the best free plan for a small business?
Buffer for pure scheduling (3 channels, 10 queued posts each). Metricool if you want analytics too (1 brand, 20 posts a month, no X or LinkedIn).
Which tools post to X?
post bridge does, and so do Publer's paid plans. Metricool needs a paid X add-on, the free plans of Publer and Social Champ exclude it, and Later doesn't support X at all. For anything else, check the tool's platform list before you pay.
Do I need a management suite or just a scheduler?
If you're one person, usually just a scheduler. Inbox, listening and approval features are built for teams.
Is there a free trial for post bridge?
Yes, 7 days. There's no free plan. See the plans.
